L’Avare!

L’Avare, meaning Miser, a wretched person, visited Goucher this weekend. Harpagon, the wretched individual, brought many others with him. His fiance, Marianne, who happened to be in love with his son, Cléante. His daughter, Elise, who has been smooching a servant. Enselme, promised to marry Elise, but also the father of his fiance? The cherry on top: this loop-de-loop of a story was performed entirely in French.

A play of missed-fortune, laughs and love. Put on by the guest theatre troupe, TRAC. Based in Beaumes-de-Venice, a city a few hours away from Paris, TRAC performs all over: France, Italy and Towson, Baltimore. This year was their 10th year performing at Goucher. As many times before, this year, the Goucher community and the theater troupe created a tight-knit team. The cast’s days were filled with classes, exams and work. But at night, they turned into live musicians, actors, stage hands and directors. Together, creating a new world in the black box theatre.

A big thank you to the amazing TRAC team and every participant, whether alum, student or staff, who made this possible!
