For the first time in a long time, the Goucher Men’s Basketball team set a program record of seven landmark conference wins. The team also destroyed Elizabethtown in a very close but breathtaking win.

If you heard any bells ringing on campus within the last two weeks, then it is probably the Men’s Basketball team after winning two landmark conference games in a row.

On February 7, 2024, the Goucher Student Athletic Advisory Committee Instagram posted a huge flyer urging students to come to support the team as they take on division opponent Elizabethtown College. The turnout was great and was a huge success. The fans were all up at it, yelling and cheering loudly.

The game was definitely worth watching. The team led 41-34 going into halftime. After the half, the lead was going back and forth between E-town and Goucher. Goucher extended the lead with 9 minutes left. Then the game got more intense with E-town stealing the lead again with now 6 minutes left.  This was the point that got the fans all hyped up, with just a few minutes remaining a total of five free throws were made before the game ended.

In the end the Goucher team defeated Elizabethtown College, earning the final spot in the Landmark playoffs! They seemed to be on a roll since, defeating Juniata College the following Saturday at their last home game of the season.

This win qualified the team for the Landmark Conference Championships ranked as number 6 in their conference.

The first stop of the tournament brings the team to Susquehanna, ranked 3rd seeded. On February 20 the gophers made the trip up to Susquehanna. Unfortunately after the first half of the game, it wasn’t looking too good for Goucher, from 18-40. Then after the second half, it looks like Susquehanna got to Goucher, ending the game with 85-59. However, this marks the end of a long and historical season for men’s basketball.
