Arden James is the new Hollywood teen “it” girl. Her recklessness gets the attention of all the tabloids, and this messy reputation of hers will cost her. In order to get herself the dream role, Arden and her publicist come up with a lie about being ‘homegrown’. For this lie to work, Arden must head back to her hometown for the holidays for the first time in four years.

Caroline Beckett has spent her high school career preparing a perfect portfolio that will get her into the best journalism program. She also has been trying to tell herself to not think about her former best friend who left without a goodbye four years ago.

Unexpectedly, Arden shows up at her front door with an enticing deal. If the two can pull off a fake romance for her ex-friend’s dream role, then Caroline has the chance to show off her journalistic talent in Cosmopolitan. She must write about their ‘romance’ and twelve dates in their holiday-obsessed hometown.

While the two play their part, old feelings start to bubble, and faking a romance for twelve days does not become so easy as it may seem.

A delightful romance full of holiday-romantic feels and drama. Arden and Caroline are well rounded characters with personal stories that are unique. They have great chemistry and solid communication in their relationship. There is plenty of yearning too.

This novel also deals with themes of the dark side of being a young star, creating a safe space for those who do not celebrate Christmas, and parental abandonment. I found that all of these themes are fleshed out and have so much depth. The authors balance out these themes with the romantic comedy very well.

If you are looking for a light, wholesome romantic comedy for the upcoming December holidays, Make My Wish Come True is the book for you.
