A New Kind of Basement Show

by

The Gopher Hole’s inaugural show occurred earlier this month on Saturday February 7th. The Independent Music Club showcased the bands Her Majesty and Fibbing, which includes Goucher’s own Emma Chase. Students from Goucher joined Fibbing for additional instruments and percussion in individual songs, making it an invigorating display of talent both within the student body and outside artists.

The venue was packed with each student equally excited to experience their first show in the Gopher Hole, and the bands matched that energy. In the second half of the show, a mosh pit broke out as the guitarist of Her Majesty dropped to their knees during a solo. The band was going so hard that the drummer broke their drumstick and it had to be retrieved dug up from the crowd.

During both of these sets, the dance floor was full of energetic onlookers eagerly celebrating both independent music and the reopening of the Gopher Hole. Said Kate Wisneskey ’28, “this is what I thought college would feel like.”

Overall, the show was a major success and has the student body looking forward to Independent Music Club’s next Gopher Hole event, a Beatles cover show on February 28th.
