Critters on Campus: Sookie Dorr

by

This is Sookie. Yes, she was named after the character from Gilmore Girls. She’s the sweetest bully you’ll ever meet, being joyfully disrespectful at every turn. Found in a tire as just a tiny kitten, she immediately captured the heart of her mom, Laney Dorr. She was alone and dirty, but after a thorough bath and a trip to the vet, Sookie was ready to become the love of someone’s life.

Sookie’s energetic personality truly comes out when she plays with her crinkly blue fish toy, flipping it up into the air to bat at and catch it. Though the fish was originally attached to a string, Sookie ate too many strings, so her toys are all officially detached before she gets to play with them.

Recently moved from Welsh to a smaller double dorm room, Sookie has had to adapt to a very different living situation. Perhaps she doesn’t mind this though, as she has taken a liking to Laney’s roommate, Sofie. Sookie’s new chosen napping spots vary between Sophie’s hamper, bed, and chair.

“I think she’s adopted Sofie,” Laney says. And when Sookie does sleep on Laney’s bed, she manages to take up half of it, leaving just the strip by the wall for her mom. One of Laney’s favorite things about Sookie is that she will lick your nose if you make kissy noises at her. “She just likes being loved. It’s her favorite thing in the world.”
