Fall Sports Recap

With the winter season on its way and the weather getting colder, most fall sports are starting to wrap up within the next few weeks. The Goucher Athletics instagram has highlighted multiple gophers across various sports as All Conference and CSC Academic All District athletes.

 Goucher had a lot of accomplishments in the fall season. Some teams who made grand accomplishments this season include the men’s and women’s soccer teams, women’s field hockey,  Cross Country and women’s volleyball.

For those of you who didn’t get to any games this year, here’s a brief recap of the fall sports season. 

Both the men and women’s soccer team played their best season this year, with the men’s team making the playoffs.  Both teams were one of seventeen D3 schools that were unbeaten starting on September 17. The men’s team started off the season strong, with a 5-0 winning streak.  Both teams also had significant first collegiate goals for each of their players. After Wednesday’s game on September 13, the team just made history with a 5-0 win, with the 199/92 teams starting off as 4-0.  The men successfully made it to the Landmark conferences, and went on to make the ECAC championships. 

The field hockey team also started off the season strong with a 4-0 record. Out of 17 total games the team played great this season with their new coach.  The team is also one out of 22 unbeaten teams in D3. 

The Cross Country team also did very well making it to the Mid Atlantic Regional Championships. The Cross Country team had a huge win on October 6. 

The volleyball team also had a very good  season as well. With the 17 games the team played this season, and even had some big accomplishments as a team.  

Alana (she/her) is a first-year Staff Writer at The Quindecim. Her major is currently undecided, but she is considering Communication and Media Studies. Alana is from Bronx, New York and is a graduate of Frank McCourt High School. She is a member of Goucher's varsity swim team. When she's not in the pool or studying, she enjoys listening to music and watching Netflix.
